Letting Go

The words don't come
My mind races, trying to find purchase in quicksand
My brain feels numb
I have things to say and this isn't the plan

The fog gets thicker
I search frantically for hope in the distance
The way is blocked
Renamed the path of most resistance

My heads feels heavy
Like baggage filled with random souvenirs
It's hard to explain
I say, "I guess you just had to be here"

My mask feels frozen
But I guess it's convincing enough
Smile, rinse, and repeat
A lake no one dips their toes in

My outlet is blocked
It's hopeless, I can't get any juice
Jumper cables are missing
Guess there really is no use

Time to let go
Force never won any friends
I just don't know
To be honest, it just depends

I can't give up
Because the words are my life
Some days you're brimming
Some days all you have is an empty cup
